Green Gold Burundi has officially launched its grafting campaign for improved avocado varieties, specifically Hass and Fuerte. The inaugural activities took place within one of the country’s largest avocado nurseries, home to more than 1,000 avocado seedlings, located in Gitega Province, Nyabihanga Commune, Musongati Zone.
The launch event was honored by the presence of Mr. Nibigira Diomed, Director General of Green Gold Burundi, accompanied by Mr. Munezero Zacharie, Director of Quality, and Mr. Girumwete Omer, a key technical advisor.
This grafting campaign is part of a nationwide effort to improve avocado quality and productivity in Burundi by promoting high-value varieties such as Hass, which are known for their strong market demand both locally and internationally. The activity also aligns with Green Gold Burundi’s broader strategy to support sustainable agriculture, increase farmer income, and boost export potential.
The grafting operations are currently underway across various provinces in the country, and Green Gold Burundi remains committed to ensuring quality practices and widespread technical support for participating farmers.
